SAFED Driver Course

What is it?

Safe and Fuel-Efficient Driving (SA for LGVs aims to enhance the driving skills of Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) drivers. This programme, supported by the Road Haulage Modernisation Fund of 2004, offers training and advancement opportunities for current LGV drivers, focusing on vehicle and road craft as well as driver techniques.
Please note; Ideally, training should be performed in a candidate’s own (or usual) vehicle.

Assessment

The candidate’s driving will be assessed by one of our qualified instructors. They will receive training in safe and fuel-efficient driving techniques, and their driving will be reassessed to track improvements in performance and fuel consumption. The final grade for each candidate will be based on their performance in safety checks and theory test exercises, as well as the number of faULTS recorded during the day’s practical driving sessions.
