Driving Alternatively Fuelled Vehicles (AFVs)
What is it?
This course is designed to train drivers in the skills, knowledge and understanding they need to be a safe and responsible driver of an AFV.
Who is it for?
Since the change in the Law on the 10th June 2025 it is now a recommended course by the department of transport that drivers of AFV complete a voluntary training course in order to prove competence with this type of vehicle that has a higher weight category. Many insurance companies since the change in the law now look to the employer to prove that they have fulfilled their obligations and duty of care under both the Health and Safety at Work Act 74 the Provision and Use of Work Equipment 98 and the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 99.
What You Need

Certification on completion.
Who is this for?
Personnel who drive company vans as part of their job role and wish to take advantage of new legislation allowing them to drive AFVs up to 4.25 tonnes MGW.
Course Certification
This course is delivered by a NVDIR instructor and you will be placed on ULTS AFV Registration and Certification on completion of the course, which is the necessary evidence you will need to satisfy your legal liability.
